"The best example yet of using the power of online to drive a TV viewing experience."
—Broadcast Digital Awards, 2015
The Channel 4 and Endemol Shine television show, The Singer Takes It All, was the first talent show in the world to dispense with judges and put all the control in the hands of the viewers.
Chunk's mobile karaoke app was at the heart of the entertainment, allowing users to record video performances and for people around the country to watch and vote them directly onto the live prime-time TV show. During the broadcast show the audience at home used the same app to vote along live—and in real-time—with an immediacy never before seen on UK television.
The Singer Takes It All app was incredibly successful; number one in the UK App Store, 9.5k video performances uploaded, 21 million Hopeful votes cast, 7 million live votes during broadcast at a rate of 22,000 per second.
Singer Takes It All was nominated for a BAFTA Digital Creativity Award, won 'Best Multiplatform Project' and 'Best App' at the Broadcast Digital Awards and the IBC Innovation Award for Content Creation.
